Job Description

As General Manager, you will be a values-driven leader motivated by achieving results through others and contributing to a thriving and growing manufacturing organization located in Regina, Saskatchewan


You will be provided with challenge, decision making and the ability to directly impact business growth and success within a state-of-the-art equipment, technology and production environment.



Reporting to the company President, your responsibilities will include:


  • Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring responsibilities and accountabilities are in place from a business, customer sales/service, human resources, financial and production/manufacturing perspective.


  • Research, analyze and maintain an optimal production environment in terms of employee skills, equipment efficiencies and related technology applications.


  • Work closely with the President to plan, implement and achieve strategic goals. Oversee and effectively manage financial performance, technology, equipment and organizational policies and processes. Strive for continuous improvement, innovation and empower employee teams to achieve career and business success.


  • Demonstrate a positive, motivating leadership style that is adaptable and empowers employees to achieve results for the company. Proactively communicate and coach/mentor employees to be motivated and engaged with clear responsibilities, performance measures/expectations and accountabilities.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


Business and Financial Management


  • Provide strong leadership, financial management, human resources and operations decision-making skills to build and maintain strong business processes, growth and profitability.


  • Collaborate with and provide strategic planning support to the President - research, assess and recommend business strategies. Lead and manage special projects to optimize business performance.


  • Provide strong financial leadership in managing budgets and finances, developing policies and cost efficiencies to ensure financial accountability, profitability and integrity of the organization. Work closely with the Financial Manager in forecasting, reporting and ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Become knowledgeable in the business operations and production equipment, technologies and processes. Monitor inventory and order materials and equipment. Identify new opportunities for improved quality and performance.


Employee Leadership and Development

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to employees. Lead by example and communicate with employees regarding interpretation of policies and standards.


  • Be a positive leader and role model…..one in which employees want to follow. Serve as an advisor to staff and maximize employee potential to ensure a competent and motivated team. Plan and organize employee meetings to coach, clarify responsibilities, receive feedback and suggestions. Train and motivate staff to meet position/team goals and corporate objectives.


  • Manage and conduct staff hiring, contracts, employee benefits, performance reviews, training, skills upgrading and succession planning.


  • Assess, analyze and resolve employee relations issues, discipline and terminations. Ensure fair and consistent practices are conducted, utilizing employment/human rights standards, workplace diversity, harassment, health/safety policies, etc.


  • Work with all employees, customers and stakeholders in a professional manner and with respect to diverse personalities, cultures and viewpoints.



Community and Business Development


Be involved with the community, build relationships, communicate with customers, community and business representatives to promote the organization. Provide business development, generate leads and promote the expertise/service capabilities of the company.


Professional Development


Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development by participating in professional organizations, conferences and educational opportunities. Remain current with new developments and products, establish professional networks and participate in professional associations.



As the successful candidate, you will bring:


EDUCATION: A related Degree/Diploma in business administration or finance is an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.


EXPERIENCE:

---Relevant business experience with approx. 5+ years in a management/leadership capacity. Proven leadership skills, and a strong financial and business acumen is required.

--- Experience in and a strong understanding of business processes; some experience and/or a desire for hands-on learning in manufacturing/production equipment and technology.

--- Success in leading employee teams within a manufacturing operations environment is an asset.


TECHNICAL SKILLS:

--- Proficiency in Word, excel, outlook, etc

--- Technically savvy and an interest in equipment and technology

Hours of work: 8:00-4:30 with some flexible hours and occasional overtime during busy periods.
